To conclude the 2023/24 school year in style and promote forms of innovation bottom upthe IIS Galilei Ferrari of Turin has decided to support a laboratory of restyling of their environments organized on a spontaneous and self-managed basis.

In June, in fact, students from the first to the fourth grades of the vocational courses, supervised and helped by teachers Caffaro, Gandolfo, Infurna and Occhipinti – responsible for the initiative – were involved in restoration, cleaning, painting and mural decoration activities in the common areas on the ground floor and in the mechanics and electrical systems laboratories of the Via Lavagna complex.

Part of the broader collective mission of regenerating school environments and promoting inclusion, this project aimed to encourage students to take care of the places they live in, offering them the opportunity to feel an active part of the school community, also with a view to improving its use by future users and to promoting ever greater quality and equity in education.

Prof. Caffaro of the IIS Galilei Ferrari in Turin comments:

it wasn’t easy to organize everything but thanks to the extraordinary availability of the Director Antonella Capitanio and all the teaching and ATA staff, we managed to prepare the field and means for the students’ work. When we got to work we found great passion, altruism and efficiency among young people, a spirit of problem solving and a desire to generate change together with teachers and school collaborators. At this point the question arises: what would happen if the regeneration of schools started from within? Maybe with suitable regional incentives? In our opinion it would be a small but important revolution and we hope to have sown a seed”.
