The Facebook group Risan (Rete Italia Sicilia All News) celebrates its 13 years of existence, proud of its 34,900 members. Born in 2011 as “Ras” Ragusa All News, the group then grew to cover the whole of Sicily with “Rsan” Ragusa Sicilia All News, and finally reached a national dimension becoming “Risan”.
The founder and administrator, Salvo Bracchitta, stated: “With tenacity and hard work we have reached these numbers thanks to the registered members who follow us every day with passion. According to the official data provided daily by the social network, for 10 years Risan has been the most clicked group.”
Bracchitta also highlighted that 89% of members live in the province of Ragusa, while 11% work outside of Sicily. The group also has a significant presence in northern Italy, with a daily coverage of 36%. Member participation has grown significantly, with an 18% increase in written posts and a 12% increase in newspaper subscriptions. In addition, commercial spaces inserted by users have also reached Palermo and Trapani.
In addition to the province of Ragusa, the group is followed mainly in Palermo and Catania, but is also present in other Sicilian provinces. The national presence includes regions such as Lombardy, Piedmont, Calabria and Tuscany.
For September, Risan plans a new program focused on the Jubilee of the Diocese of Ragusa and on the national celebrations in Sicily and diocese. Content dedicated to Fam Ragusa and travel in the national territory will also be included.
Salvo Bracchitta recalled that the group was born with “the aim of providing true information, eliminating fake news, which causes useless comments”. Finally, he thanked the newspapers that, in these 13 years, have shared their articles, and invited everyone to continue sharing the group’s posts and to invite friends to join.
