Farmaè Viareggio beats Friuli Venezia Giulia 6-5 in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals and secures a spot in tomorrow’s semi-final (Saturday 30): with suffering and luck, but above all with cynicism, determination and an infinite heart, the Bianconeri get the better of the Friulians in a challenge very different from the one in the Serie A Scudetto pool, which they won by a landslide (14-6). In Torre Faro (Messina), Gori and Zè Lucas each score a brace. Léo Martins and Petracci also scored.

The game seems to be going very well for Farmaè Viareggio, who takes the lead to 2-0 thanks to a brace from Gabriele Gori, relentless on set-piece opportunities: in the 4th minute the centre forward converts a penalty (which he himself caused, a foul in the area by Hodel), in the 5th minute he repeats it on a free kick from midfield (foul by Coppola). The start of the second half smiles on the Friulians, who with Schirinzi scare the Bianconeri on 3 occasions: from a rebound with Zè Lucas, the Swiss almost surprises Carpita, then heads it to the side with an empty net and finally sends it out acrobatically. The goal of Friuli arrives (in the 4th minute), but it is Sirico who scores, with a left-footed shot that Carpita can do nothing about. VBS does not find any help in good fortune, because on the subsequent cross Bertacca hits the post. In the 7th minute Ozu prevents the Friulians from taking the lead, clearing Lavanga’s shot on the line. A handful of seconds later Gori wastes a sensational opportunity from close range. After Carpita’s flight on Eliott’s long-range rocket, Farmaè Viareggio rediscovers itself as concrete and ruthless: in the 9th minute Ozu sets up for Léo Martins, who one-on-one with the Swiss goalkeeper does not miss. The duel is repeated very shortly after, but this time it is the same Eliott who wins. Petracci then takes care of closing the gap, with a deflection like a true predator in the opponent’s area.
Farmaè Viareggio lives the third period in a state of apnea, supported enormously by luck. FVG in fact hits the woodwork 3 times: in the 3rd minute Hodel hits the post on an assist from the back by Dmais, in the 5th minute the same fate for the scissor kick by Coppola, while Hodel (this time with an overhead kick) hits the crossbar. In the 6th minute Lasagna scores, with a right-footed shot crossed. The Bianconeri are once again forced to chase, but this time the comeback is completed in a flash: Zè Lucas converts a free kick from midfield for an irregular touch by Eliott. Just a minute later the Brazilian number 10 gets past the Swiss goalkeeper, collecting a loose ball. In the 10th minute Carpita is the protagonist of a sublime intervention on the overhead kick aimed at the top corner by Spacca, then Léo Martins has an inviting conclusion blocked by Eliott. With just over a minute to go, Ozu fouls Hodel, granting a free throw to FVG. The number 9 of the Friulians, however, finds the decisive opposition of Gianni Santini, who came on for the occasion from Carpita. It is the last gasp of an exciting and unpredictable challenge. The Bianconeri can thus continue their journey in the Italian Cup.
