Imola, 29 June 2024 – It is the third event most followed sporting event on a global level, after the Olympics and the Football World Cup. And tomorrow it will pass through Imola. Everything is ready in the city for the historic passage of the Tour de FranceThe second stage of the 2024 edition of the Grande Boucle (Cesenatico – Bologna, 199 km, dedicated to Marco Pantani) will arrive in Imola following the route of the 2020 Cycling World Championshipsalso tackling the now legendary climb of Gallisterna, to then conclude in the Emilian capital, after a challenging route that includes two climbs to San Luca.

The arrival of the runners in the Imola area is expected at 2.47pm, while the caravan will begin to pass approximately two hours earlier.

Cyclists will emerge into the city along via Sabbioni, via Ghiandolino, then enter the‘Autodromo from the Piratella curve and will travel almost one lap of the track, in its direction of travel, passing in front of the pits and exiting from under the tower, to turn onto the bridge of Viale Dante to reach Viale Zappi, Piazzale Bianconcini, Viali Saffi, D’Agostino and Amendola and finally continue along Via Emilia towards Bologna. From 11:30 to 15:30 the police and security personnel will supervise the route. Traffic will be restored at least 15 minutes after the race has passed.

From 7am to 3.30pm no parking with removal of vehicles in the following streets: Sabbioni; Ghiandolino (between the intersection with via Sabbioni and the entrance to the racetrack); Dante; Piazzale Da Vinci; Zappi (between the intersection of via Mazzini and piazza Bianconcini); piazza Bianconcini (between the intersection with viale Zappi and the roundabout and the intersection with the square from number 21/A to number 3); Saffi (section between the piazza Bianconcini roundabout and the intersection with viale D’Agostino and via Villa Clelia, with the exclusion of the rest areas located on the raised part of the road in the section between number 10/A of piazzale Giovanni dalle Bande Nere and the intersection with viale D’Agostino and via Villa Clelia); viale D’Agostino (between the intersection with via Villa Clelia and viale Saffi and the intersection with viale Amendola); viale Amendola; via Emilia Ponente. To celebrate the event, a morning dedicated to the world of two wheels at the Autodromo. Track open to bikes from 8 to 11.

Cycling Santerno, Uisp and Triathlon they organize a self-managed gathering. The Aver association will propose an exhibition of rare historic racing bikes. Central stands open, available to those who want to watch the race also on the big screen. But it will be possible to watch the race pass directly from the sides of the track.

The Municipality’s invitation is to dress in something yellow. “The passage of the Tour de France is a historic moment – comments the mayor Marco Panieri –. The city is ready to welcome the race and experience the emotion of its passage with dedicated initiatives. As always, Imola will highlight its places of excellenceamong which the most iconic is undoubtedly the racetrack, which will be the most immediate business card for the territory.
