PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – “It was an extraordinary season for Sicilian football, because the results went beyond all expectations: we had a great championship both in Excellence and in Promotion and we brought 12 teams to Serie D with Paternò” . This was underlined by the president of the National Amateur League (Lnd) Sicily Sandro Morgana on the sidelines of the second edition of the Sicilian football festival, organized in the FIGC-Lnd Sicily headquarters in Ficarazzi. “We salute the positive experiences of Trapani and Meta Catania as great successes of Sicilian football – continues Morgana – Now we look to the future with renewed confidence and we are preparing to organize a great tournament of the regions in Sicily: all twenty Italian regions will be there, with approximately two thousand athletes for four disciplines. This is a great opportunity to involve all Sicilians and promote the fundamental values of sporting activity and our territory. We have also carried out a very important reform of the youth sector by introducing elite activity, raising the quality of our championships and investing a lot: in addition, Sicily won the Piras tournament, beating the strongest regions
of Italy, it is a great result that demonstrates the great value of our youth sector”.
