New awareness campaign by the Provincial Avis of Sassari for the summer, a period in which the population in Sardinia increases considerably and at the same time blood donations undergo a physiological decline

Donating blood is a safe and quick gesture that can save many lives. It’s a simple gesture like drinking a glass of water. This is the message that Avis Provinciale of Sassari wants to convey with the new one summer awareness campaign to blood and plasma donation.
Water and blood they are fundamental elements for the functioning of our organism, but we are not always aware of their importance. The importance of hydrating properly is often underestimated and it happens that you realize the weight of a blood donation only when you are personally involved. Therefore, for the summer, a period in which the population in Sardinia increases considerably and at the same time blood donations suffer a physiological decline, the Provincial Avis of Sassari launches a new initiative in order to promote the culture of donation and to reach the new generations, to tell them that donating blood is simpler than you might imagine: 10 minutes are enough to save a life.
In recent years, thanks to awareness campaigns and organized activities, the Provincial Avis has seen the number of donors grow of blood in the most critical period in terms of availability: June, July and August. We went from 3,917 donors in 2021, to 4,381 in 2022, and then grew further in 2023, recording 4,518 donations.
For the 2024 campaign, the volunteer organization has partnered with San Martino, a mineral water bottling company based in Codrongianos, which has created personalized Avis Provinciale Sassari cans. Each can features the phrases: “Blood donation: 10 minutes that are worth a life”, “The contribution of every single donor is essential for life, for health, for everyone”.
“We will give away the cans on the occasion of the usual blood drives that we organize throughout the area, near the beaches and at information stands,” explained the president of the Provincial Avis of Sassari, Antonio Dettori, this morning during the press conference to present the initiative. “The message we want to convey to everyone is clear: donating blood is as simple as drinking a glass of water”, underlined President Dettori who also underlined the importance of establishing collaborations with local companies and associations: “The Our goal is to get the awareness message to as many people as possible and creating synergies means reaching new donors.”
Also present at the meeting with journalists Pier Mario Simula, Marketing and Communication Acqua San Martino: “Our body is made up of 65% water and mineral salts. Correct hydration of the body is one of the basic principles of physical well-being. For us as a company, as women and men, it is an honor to convey the Avis message through our product.”
For the awareness campaign, 30 thousand personalized Avis Provinciale Sassari cans were produced. The cans are not for sale, but will be given away to donors.

You can also donate blood at the Avis Comunale office in Sassari, in via Pavese 1, open every morning, from Monday to Saturday.
