“Modernization of port systems for energy transition”. This is the theme of the conference on July 2nd, organized by the Order of Engineers of the Province of Salerno at the Grand Hotel at 3.00 pm. An exceptional audience, to discuss a strategic aspect for the maritime sector, called to find effective answers to face the challenge of the energy transition. Among those invited by the Order, presided over byEngineer Raffaele Tarateta, the President of the Campania Regional Council, the Honourable Vincenzo De Luca, who will open the proceedings, and Nello Musumeci, Minister for Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, who will be entrusted with the conclusions. Furthermore, numerous experts and representatives of bodies and institutions will be present who will make the appointment on 2 July a real master’s degree, which aspires to be indicated as a forerunner in the line of development of the energy transition of Italian ports and naval transport.

«The maritime sector – says engineer Raffaele Tarateta – has always represented an important factor for the progress and development of our peninsula and of the civilizations that have developed in it».
In the top ten of Italian ports, two are from Campania and are leading both for freight and passenger transport. One of these current port realities is the city of Salerno, whose port began to be structured from 1300, following the example of the near Amalfi, among the four Maritime Republics, which together with Gaeta, dominated the Mediterranean since the end of the 9th century.

«The Salerno port – recalls Taratela – had a new life in the 1950s, when it was decided, perhaps not opting for the best and most congenial solution, to build the new port in the northern area of the city. A port that today links Salerno to the entire world, a place of trade that projects our city onto international scenarios. Hence the importance of the Conference in question, which addresses a fundamental theme for the modernization of the Italian port system and naval transport, in the context of the energy transition, which places the city of Salerno and its port at the center of the country and the Mediterranean.
