SECURITY: 38 OFFICERS ASSIGNED TO PADUA PRISON
PADUA – On 8 July 22 Penitentiary Police officers will take up service at the local Due Palazzi prison and 2 at the neighboring prison, following the conclusion of the 183rd Student Course. To these, in the balance between the various transfers, a further 14 agents will be added, always available to the contingent based at the Padua prison, starting from 31 July, for a total of 38 new agents. The promise of the Undersecretary of State for Justice, Sen. Andrea Ostellari, formulated during the meeting last 4 April with the Penitentiary trade unions was therefore kept. An effort made by the Ministry in order to consolidate the model of excellence of the penitentiary structure of the city of the Saint. Furthermore, the arriving reinforcements will also better guarantee safety within the prison, avoiding risk situations for the officers, who often have fewer numbers than the inmates who have to manage the growing phenomenon of aggression. Not only that, thanks to the investment of 5 million euros, the Interregional Supervision and the Penitentiary Administration are strengthening one of the hot topics of the prison emergency which affects the entire national system, that of the lack of re-education paths and activities for a real recovery of prisoners leading to reintegration into society at the end of their sentence. The funds will also allow the hiring of psychologists who are desperately needed to deal with the fragilities of those in detention which have often led to extreme actions within our prisons. Cleaning up the world of prisons doesn’t bring votes and is certainly not useful for achieving career growth, which is why for years no one wanted to intervene, leaving or rather creating a drift in the national prison system. Perhaps the hope is really strong, someone has understood that Democracy and Civilization also pass through crowded Italian cells.
