They are in the territory of Imola and the surrounding area 18 appointments scheduledwhich are added to the preview held on Thursday June 27 in the cloister of the bishop’s palace with the pianist Ramin Bahrami. Alongside timeless classics, Emilia Romagna Festival bets on new and researched music for a vast and not exclusively specialist audience, proposing the works of original composers active on the international scene. Among these, also the focus on new music by overseas composers, presented by young and talented American quartets, such as Aruna Quartet (6 August at the San Domenico museum, Imola; August 7 at the fortress of Riolo Terme), with pieces in Italian premiere or very rarely heard. Many artists are involved, also this year, among which the duo Igudesman & Joo (July 16th at the Teatro dell’Osservanza) with the national premiere of “Coda – The Final Nightmare”. The 24th edition of the Emilia Romagna Festival will also see the return of major international orchestras, such as the Korean Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra (in the photo) on July 5th in the church of San Domenico and the Czech Chamber Orchestra Philharmonic Pardubice (September 5 at the Osservanza Theatre).

Alongside the music, as always, there are places, which are not just mere containers, but an integral part of each event, such as the cloister of the San Domenico museum or the historic garden of the bishop’s palace. “Concerts are an opportunity – comments Giacomo Gambi, councilor for culture of the Municipality of Imola – to discover and enhance cultural sites that we often take for granted and have never visited”.

“From the smallest to the largest municipalities – concludes Massimo Mercelli, artistic director of Erf -, the festival is increasingly widespread with quality events that give space to international names but also to the most promising talents who are emerging into the spotlight”.

The complete program of the festival is available on the website www.emiliaromagnafestival.it.
