Died in 2019 in 95 years oldthe Lady Life Carrapa he left inherited from the ASL Lecce a house and sums of money with a total value of approximately 3 million euros for the healthcare company to achieve a care and assistance facility in the Maglie areathe town where the old woman lived, to be named after Carrapa Paolo and sisters.
The Lecce Local Health Authority had come into possession of Mrs Carrapa’s inheritance in January 2023 and since then the planning to create it began the wishes of the old woman.
The health company has thus approved the project for the destination of the inheritance which will be used for the construction of a high-tech and robotics district rehabilitation center in Maglie.
The rehabilitation center will be located on the ground floor of the territorial assistance unit of Maglie (former hospital), and will be equipped with cutting-edge equipment at the service of rehabilitation medicine.
The premises will be completely renovated and will house a rehabilitation gym of approximately 100 square meters, two medical offices and three rooms dedicated to electromyographic and ultrasound diagnostics, neurocognitive and speech therapy rehabilitation. Furthermore, they will be purchased and used, new generation and high-tech robotic equipment which will allow us to increase the intensity of treatments and create personalized protocols for the needs of patients, even with serious and disabling pathologies, and compromised from a motor point of view.
In perfect accordance with Mrs. Carrapa’s testamentary provisions, explains the general manager Stefano Rossi«we wanted to provide Maglie and the South Salento with a modern and qualified rehabilitation reference center which will have a significant impact on a vast territory”.
The ASL, Rossi adds, has preferred “this more concrete and visible path to the idea, although tested, of the possibility that the testamentary legacy could be used to build the hospital in South Salento. Infrastructure that, although remaining in the regional planning, as is known requires much larger sums. We therefore think that the testator’s wishes can find tangible satisfactionbecause his idea of health care in a public facility will be realized in his memory and in memory of his brothers, in his Maglie at the service of fragile and vulnerable patients”, concludes the director general of the ASL Lecce.
The high-tech and robotics district rehabilitation center in Maglie will be named, as per the express wish of Vita Carrapa, after “Carrapa Paolo and sisters“.
