“This dream beach in the Cinque Terre is the number one in Italy for summer 2024”. According to the survey conducted by Omio, which led to a ranking of 75 beaches in Europe, the Scoglio di Monterosso is the best Italian place to go to the sea and spend your holidays. The ranking was drawn up based on the analysis of visitor reviews, summer temperatures and, above all, sales and rental prices of beach goods such as: beach loungers, ice cream, water, beer and spritz.
Based on these parameters, Monterosso reaches the top of the cheapest summer destinations in Italy and ranks fifth at European level. “A sunbed with umbrella costs only 10 euros a day, a scoop of ice cream costs 2 euros, a spritz 6 euros. With an average summer temperature of 21 degrees, Monterosso is never too hot or too cold.” The other Italian beaches are located a few positions further down. In ninth place is the beach of Sansone dell’Elba, in twenty-third place the beach of Tropea and in thirty-first place that of Rimini.
To find cheaper umbrellas and sunbeds you have to go to the beach of San Vito Lo Capo in Sicily and Margherita di Savoia in Puglia (5 euros). The average price of a sunbed on Italian beaches is 14.90 euros this summer, with peaks of 40 euros on the beach of Marina Piccola in Capri. The beaches with the cheapest spritz are those of Rimini and Monterosso (6 euros), while in Positano the price of the famous cocktail reaches 9 euros. Ice cream is also particularly expensive on the Amalfi Coast, with a cost of at least 3.50 euros per scoop.
The cheapest beach in Europe is Playa de Las Canteras. It is followed by Kleopatra Plaji (Lanya, Turkey) in second place, Playa de La Concha (San Sebastián, Spain) in third, Playa de las Teresitas (Tenerife, Spain) in fourth and Scoglio di Monterosso, as already mentioned, in fifth .
