Tomorrow is a day of celebration for Modica. Tomorrow is the day of the celebration dedicated to the patron saint, Saint Peter the Apostle. The city community of devotees and faithful gather around their saint. It begins at 8:30 in the Mother Church with the Eucharistic celebration. At 10 am the procession from the town hall, accompanied by the civic philharmonic of Modica, with the presence of the mayor, the regional authorities, the municipal administration, the president of the Council and the city councilors, the civil and military authorities as well as representatives of local associations. At 10:30 am the city mass will be held, presided over by the parish archpriest, the priest Giuseppe Stella. The delivery of the votive candle and the signing of the act of commitment by the mayor and the parish priest are expected. In the afternoon, there will be, at 7 pm, the solemn concelebration presided over by the bishop of the diocese of Noto, mons. Salvatore Rumeo. From 8:30 p.m., the procession of the venerated statue of Saint Peter and the paralytic as well as the relic will begin along Corso Umberto, accompanied by the Modica Civic Philharmonic. Throughout the day of the celebration, the holes linked to the initiative “As on earth so in heaven” will be blessed and distributed, to be placed on the tombs of their deceased loved ones, asking Saint Peter to open the gates of Heaven for them. At 10 p.m., in Piazza Matteotti, the concert of Orbital Debris, a tribute to Queen, is scheduled. While at midnight there will be a fireworks display by the award-winning company Fratelli Chiarenza. Finally, on Sunday, at 7:30 p.m., the Eucharistic celebration is scheduled, followed by the drawing of the prizes of the charity raffle and the evening visit to the bell tower. “We have reached the final stage of the celebrations – comments the provincial president of Confcommercio Ragusa, Gianluca Manenti, who together with the sectional president, Giorgio Moncada, has supported the initiatives of these last weeks in the media – and we are realizing more and more how the celebration is followed with great attention by all the Modicans, including the commercial operators registered with our association”. Last night, in the meantime, the concert of the choir of the city Unitre, with the director Orazio Baglieri and the pianist Giorgio Cannizzaro, in the presence of the president of Unitre Modica, Enzo Cavallo, was a great success in the Mother Church.
