The “Theatre in the courtyards” returns to Verona

The amateur companies from Verona are ready to return to the stage to offer a summer of shows and fun with the 2024 edition of “Teatro nei Cortili”. From June 30th to September 1st the city evenings will be animated by 25 shows created by 18 amateur companies for a total of 152 theatrical performances. The historic locations of the cloisters of Santa Maria in Organo and Sant’Eufemia, together with the suggestive Montanari Courtyard, will host the rich event, promoted by the Department of Culture, which represents one of the most loved and awaited traditions by the Veronese community.

The Theater in the courtyards is an event as long awaited as it is loved by the people of Verona, where tradition and innovation meet with an artistic offering aimed at satisfying every taste. A result resulting from the constant commitment of the Veronese theater companies who, with dedication and passion, renew their participation in this event every year. Special thanks go to BCC Veneta for its support of the event, which this year stands out for its sustainable approach thanks to the collaboration with Acque Veronesi and AMIA, which will provide biodegradable water and glasses.”

The program for June and July

  • The curtain rises Sunday 30th June at Cortile S. Maria in Organo where Trixtragos stages “Come Cyrano”, written by Ilaria Raber and directed by Nunzia Messina, until 6 July. In Cortile S. Eufemia;
  • From 4th to 10th July the company La sia presents “I married 7 women”, written by Dory Cei and directed by Elena Merlo;
  • Cortile Montanari debuts on11 and 13 July with “Hotel Maranza” by the Compagnia dell’Arca, a show written and directed by Valerio Bufacchi with Stefano Serri, Alessia Bottone, Alberto Manfré and Isabella Dilavello.

The June and July shows will begin at 9.15pm, while the performances in August and September are at 9pm. The public can contact the companies directly to reserve seats and purchase advance tickets. The review was presented yesterday morning by the Councilor for Culture Marta Ugolini with Ermanno Regattieri by Estravagario Theatre, Marco Cantieri of Armathan Theater and Fabrizio Piccinato of ArteFatto Teatro, who oversaw the drafting of the program.
