5 million euros in assets and companies seized from an entrepreneur believed to be close to the Alvaro gang, under investigation for money laundering and mafia association
As part of a close collaboration between the Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabria and the State Police, an important operation against the ‘Ndrangheta was completed, with the seizure of various assets between Calabria and Marche, with a total value of approximately 5 million euros. The Calabrian entrepreneur involved was identified thanks to“EYPHEMOS” operation, which revealed his prominent role within a local mafia faction.
The investigative action was coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office – District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Reggio Calabria, under the guidance of Dr. Giovanni Bombardieri. The seizure of assets, which includes companies, properties and financial assets, represents a significant blow against the assets illegally accumulated by criminal gangs.
According to what emerged from the investigations, the entrepreneur not only directed criminal operations but also orchestrated sophisticated money laundering mechanisms, using the fictitious registration of assets to evade asset prevention measures. These activities resulted in a 19-year prison sentence for mafia-type association, confirming his top role within the ‘Ndrangheta of Sant’Eufemia d’Aspromonte.
The operation demonstrates the continuous commitment of the police forces in combating organized crime, aiming to restore legality and transparency in the business fabric.
