Yesterday evening, with the presentation of Giovanni Gasparro’s banner, the period of preparation for the event officially began Palio of next July 2nd, dedicated to the Madonna of Provenzano.
The ten districts that will take part in the Piazza del Campo career are Giraffe, Nicchio, Wave, Valdimontone, Bruco, Leocorno, Lupa, Pantera, Civetta and Oca.
As always, great attention will be paid by the people of Asti who will be arriving in large numbers in the Tuscan city in the next few days, due to the importance of the pairs that will be lined up on the ropes.
The regulated tests have already been held today, starting at 6, and will continue tomorrow too. The trials will select the horses for the Race which will be held on Saturday June 29th. The captains will thus choose the lot of ten horses that will run in the Palio and which will be assigned to the ten districts. From Saturday evening off to the rehearsals, one in the morning and one in the evening, and the waltz of the mountains
The Palio will take place on Tuesday 2 July, with the horses leaving the entrance scheduled for 7.30pm Mossiere will be Bartolo Ambrosione.
The horses admitted to the regulated trials and those directly to the Tract
There are eighty-five horses admitted to the regulated trials today, Thursday 27th and Friday 28th June and seven horses directly admitted to the race on Saturday 29th June. These are the decisions of the municipal veterinary commission after the two days of visits carried out at the Ceppo clinic in Monteresi in view of the Palio of 2 July 2024 and after the consultation, non-binding as stated in the Regulations for the Palio, with the Captains of the Contrade who will participate in the Career.
