Electricity, in Teramo Hera will manage the Gradual Protection service. What happens from July 1st – ekuonews.it

TERAMO – Starting from Monday 1st July, Hera Comm, a subsidiary of the Hera Group, will be the new electricity operator for the approximately 26 thousand families in the province of Teramo who have not chosen free market offers and who are therefore currently served in the Maggior market Protection. With the end of the protected market, these customers will automatically move to the transitional Gradual Protection service, which will be provided by the Hera Group. The multi-utility has, in fact, won the tender called by the Single Buyer for the supply of citizens currently served by the Maggior Tutela in 37 Italian provinces including all those of Abruzzo, therefore, in addition to Teramo, also L’Aquila, Pescara and Chieti.

The conditions of the Gradual Protection service, the same throughout Italy, are those defined by the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment (ARERA). There will be two main components of the energy price: a first part, which will be variable, covers the energy supply costs, and will derive from the average of the wholesale market prices (National Single Price – PUN). Added to this is a fixed component, aimed at covering marketing costs which, by virtue of the tender discounts, will result in savings for the customer compared to the current Greater Protection. As regards billing, this will continue to be bimonthly.

The transition from the current manager will be automatic, therefore without the need to sign a new contract and without any burden for citizens. Thanks to this automation, which will also concern any bank debits, the continuity of the electricity supply will be guaranteed to everyone.

The arrival of the new manager will not affect customers defined as vulnerable by ARERA, for whom the Greater Protection service with the current supplier will remain active. Vulnerability is triggered with one of the following requirements: being aged 75 or over, being a beneficiary of social bonuses, having particular health conditions or a disability, residing on smaller, unconnected islands or in emergency homes following disasters.

For any information on the transition in progress, citizens can contact the widespread network of Hera branches in the province: in Teramo, Giulianova, Tortoreto and Silvi Marina. For customers currently in Maggior Tutela, Hera has activated a toll-free number (800 554 000) that can be contacted for any information on the transition in progress. Furthermore, a section dedicated to the end of electricity protection has been set up on the Hera Comm website.

In approaching an important territory such as the province of Teramo, in which it is already well rooted, Hera will maintain the same service model that brought it among the first national energy managers: focus on customer service, through both remote and (MyHera app, web, call center) and physical (over 160 branches throughout the country), rigorous ethical conduct in proposing its solutions and a strong propensity to accompany families and businesses towards renewable sources and energy efficiency, to support them on the path towards the decarbonisation of consumption.

Moreover, the Hera Group, a multi-utility with predominantly public capital (111 municipal administrations hold approximately 45.8%), with a significant presence in the shareholding structure of funds oriented towards investments from an ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance & Economics) perspective, has sustainability is the guiding value of all areas of activity: waste management and treatment, water cycle, public lighting, distribution, sales and energy efficiency. These services are currently used by approximately 4.2 million citizens, distributed in over 310 Italian municipalities.

The orientation towards sustainability is attested, among others, by two important pieces of evidence. Already today, 52% of the Group’s gross operating margin is “shared value”, i.e. linked to activities that contribute to achieving the UN sustainability objectives for 2030 and, according to the industrial plan, it will rise to 64% by 2027. Furthermore, since 2020 (with annual checks and renewals) the Hera stock has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (both European and global), an authoritative international stock market index, which includes the best listed companies in terms of performance in ESG dimensions.

What happens on July 1st – Electricity supplies with Greater Protection for non-vulnerable private customers automatically become supplies with Gradual Protection provided by Hera Comm. The customer does not have to do anything and continuity of the service is guaranteed.

What happens to vulnerable customers? – They are expected to remain in Greater Protection with the current manager. Customers are considered vulnerable with one of the following characteristics: aged 75 and over, experiencing economic difficulty or residing in disadvantaged areas. Detailed information on the Arera website.

What does the Gradual Protection service include? – The supply of electricity at standard conditions defined by Arera, with a variable price lower than the current protection tariff.
