Non-EU citizens
The non-EU citizen must produce, in addition to what is described above and with the forwarding methods already indicated, also:
- passport and residence permit issued by the Public Security authority;
- if married, the original and photocopy of the marriage certificate legalized by the Italian consular authority of the foreigner’s country of origin with a translation conformity visa.
Citizens of the United Kingdom who are registering for the first time in Italy:
- passport and electronic residence document issued by the competent Police Headquarters
Procedure of the practice
Within 45 days of submission of the Declaration, the investigations of the required requirements (habitual residence, document verification, etc.).
The confirmed lack of a requirement leads to the annulment of the procedure with retroactive effect.
After 45 days from the presentation or sending of the Declaration and in the absence of different communication to the declarant(s), the registration of a new residence or change of residence is considered confirmed (silence-assent).
Compliance with the 45 day deadline is guaranteed by submitting or sending the Declaration exclusively in the ways and to the addresses indicated on this page. The investigations are arranged following the citizen’s declaration which, however within two working days of registering the case, you will already be able to obtain the certificate of residence, family status e the identity card, which will then be revoked in the event that the residency procedure is cancelled.
To allow the verification activity to be carried out, it is necessary to put your name on the doorbell and on the letterbox. Any inability to access the home could compromise the investigation of the procedure and its positive conclusion.
To facilitate checks on residency, the citizen must show a copy of the title that allows him to use the accommodation (e.g. rental or loan for use agreement, property deed, etc.).
Warning
If the declaration of residence presented to the Registry office certifies the possession of vehicles registered in one’s name, it is possible to download, through the motorist’s portal (www.ilportaledellautomobilista.it), the certificate containing the residence data, as registered in the National Vehicle Archive (ANV), to be shown if necessary
Sanctions
Pursuant to art. 5, paragraphs 4 and 5, of Legislative Decree 5/2012 and art. 75 of Presidential Decree 445/2000, declarations which do not correspond to the truth will result in the forfeiture of the benefits acquired as a result of the false declaration (loss of the last residence and restoration of the pre-existing situation), as well as reporting to the public security authority by the registry officer, of the discrepancies between the declarations made by the interested parties and the results of the investigations carried out.
Based on the art. 76 Presidential Decree 445/2000, anyone who makes untruthful statements is punished in accordance with the penal code and special laws on the matter.
The citizen who moves to Vicenza coming from another Municipality or from abroad or due to unavailability must present the declaration of change of residence to the Registry office within 20 days of the transfer date
