Molfetta’s centre-right councilors share the alarm about the poor compensation for civic service workers

Germinario, Binetti, Mastropasqua

MOLFETTA – The city councilors Mastropasqua, Binetti and Germinario: “Events such as “Battiti” and “Molfest” which enhance the beauty of our city are good, but we also think about the dignity of Molfetta’s civic service workers and invite the Administration to spend some resources for them too” «After the municipal councilors Petruzzelli and Lanza, the liberal and center-right civic councilors Mastropasqua, Binetti and Germinario also reiterate the importance of increasing the compensation of municipal civic service operators, as already proposed in several occasions in the council and in the commission in recent months. “We have seen how much the Municipality spends on the various events of the Molfetta Summer 2024, such as Battiti and Molfest, and we are happy with the return on image that we will have as a community, but we believe that the administration should also focus on the needs of the service operators civic and invest some resources there. It is a question that must be resolved for the dignity and recognition of the commitment made by citizens to the civic service. The issue of hourly recognition assigned to these workers is of primary importance to us. Despite our repeated efforts in the competent commissions and the multiple requests in the city council, we always remain unheard by this Administration. We express our agreement with what was requested by Councilors Lanza and Petruzzelli regarding the failure to increase the hourly compensation for civic service, despite the large amount of money available for the Molfetta summer of 2024. Our opposition has been proactive on the issue, trying to bring improvements to the current regulation to guarantee fair pay for civic service workers. However, all our interventions seem to fall on deaf ears. We found resistance from the offices and a lot of disinterest from politicians. In short, the needs of citizens are not listened to regardless. We ask for an increase in hourly wages not only because it is fair, but also because it is ethically correct towards these citizens who provide their service for the community. Our commitment to these operators will continue.”
