The database of accommodation facilities is also operational in Calabria. It is the fourth Italian region

COSENZA – Also starts in Calabrito the database of accommodation facilities. Together with Puglia, Veneto and Abruzzo ours is the fourth Italian region responsible for starting the experimentation of the national database of accommodation facilities, properties for short-term rental and for tourist purposes. The structures will be included in the Accommodation Structures Database (Bdsr). A project promoted by Ministry of Tourismto have a complete mapping of the properties that have tourist destinations, sets the objective of transparent advertising of the same and allow the registered Calabrian structures to obtain in addition to the CIR (regional identification code) also the CIN (national identification code) to guarantee a high quality standard and to protect the user and as per the Ministerial Decree.

The national identification code

An important project because all the structures will have to have the CIR in addition to the CIN, with a constant control and verification of quality standards. Anyone who rents an apartment for short-term rentals will also need to have this national identification code, which will allow for higher quality standards and quality services that can thus satisfy tourists and avoid them getting “ripped off” or booking in the dark. The CIN it must be displayed outside the building in which the apartments or structures are located and must be indicated in every advertisement wherever published and communicated.

In Calabria the database of accommodation facilities

The new database will also serve to collect detailed information on regional tourism to be used for statistical purposes, to adapt the tourist offer to market demands. From today Calabrian citizens can access, via Spid or Cie, the appropriate online platform and reask for the National Identification Code (Cin) to be used for the publication of advertisements and for displaying them outside the structures and properties.

The BDSR is a tool that implements, through interoperability mechanisms, information coordination between state and territorial administration data and is aimed at providing a mapping of accommodation establishments on a national scale, also useful for combating irregular forms of hospitality.

The information contained in the database concerns, among other things:

  1. type of accommodation
  2. location
  3. accommodation capacity
  4. person carrying out the hospitality business
  5. regional identification code, where adopted, or unique alphanumeric code.

In the experimental start-up phase there are no sanctions and citizens who wish to do so are allowed to comply with the obligations related to the identification code well in advance. The provisions relating to the Bdsr will be applicable only starting from the sixtieth day following publication in the Official Journal of the notice of entry into operation of the database at national level, expected no later than 1 September 2024. In this first experimental phase, therefore, no sanctions will be incurred and citizens who wish to do so are allowed to adapt to the obligations related to the Cheers.
