The first die is cast. The path of the Italian men’s national roller hockey team in view of the World Championships 2024a review this year on stage from 16 to 22 September in Novara and set up inside the World Skate Gamesthe multisport event that brings together in one place (in this case our country) all the world championship competitions of the disciplines affiliated with the FISR.
Yesterday, Friday 28th June, the host city hosted the the awaited draw that included the blue team in group B with Chile, France and Spain. Argentina, Portugal, Angola and USA are the four teams in Group A. By virtue of this, Alessandro Bertolucci’s men will debut against their South American opponents on Monday 16 September, and then meet the Transalpines and the Iberians in the following two days.
Group B also for the women’s national team, ready to clash with Spain, Chile and England. The match with the British will be the first scheduled for the Italians (16 September); the matches against the Chileans (17 September) and the Spanish (18 September) will follow.
Also present on the occasion of the draw was Minister of Sport Andrea Abodiwho introduced the event with these words: “We live projected into the future and thanks to young people. This event represents all of this in the best possible way. When 100 years of history are celebrated, as happens for the world federation and for Hockey here in Novara – underlined the Minister in the words collected by the FISR – when we talk about numbers like more than 100 participating countries, 12 disciplines, 4 regions involved, 12,000 athletes, 600 competitions, as is the case for the World Skate Games 2024, it is clear that a huge challenge is being launched. A challenge that, thanks to the organizational capacity of the World and Italian Federations and the local organizational machine, will be met in the best possible way, for an event of extraordinary importance. A spectacular territory like that of Novara can be promoted. The world event represents a meeting between peoples, through sport, for peace, inclusion, in symbiosis with the human being. The Future is not only about medals and victories, but also about inclusion, loyalty, solidarity and legality. Values fully represented by roller sports”.
