PISA. The Paratrooper General Walter Amadio is the new president of the Lions Club Pisa Host. Amadio succeeds Dr. Joseph Garcia.
The nomination
The evening of the June 27th Last year, in the premises of the “InVilla” restaurant in Marina di Pisa, the heartfelt and touching ceremony of the Passing of the Bell took place, during which Amadio took over from Garcea at the end of an intense social year. The event saw the participation of many of the 66 members that the city club has, with spouses and guests. Thanks and greetings were also expressed to the members who helped carry out the activities carried out by the club during the financial year just concluded. Authorities from the Regional District of the Lions Club International intervened.
The note
“The service club – reads a note released by the Lions – has been present in Pisa since 1956 and assiduously promotes activities of participation in the civic, cultural, social and moral good of the city, encouraging people who are predisposed and available to carry out services in favor of the city community and beyond, without, obviously, any personal economic advantage”.
During the month of July, the new team of collaborators chosen by the new president Amadio will meet to set the objectives (services in the Club’s jargon) for the new financial year. «We are confident in a fruitful path in favor of the entire city community – concludes the club’s statement – and we offer our heartfelt congratulations to the new president».
What is Lions?
Finally, a little history on Lionism. The founder was Melvin Jones, a young executive at an insurance company in Chicago. On June 7, 1917, an organizational meeting was held, which gave birth to the Association of Lions Clubs. In October of the same year, the first national convention was organized in Dallas, during which the constitution and bylaws of the new association were approved, and the purposes and code of ethics were decided.
