A few hours ago the press conference took place Lucca Comics & Games 2024 and, among the many news and announcements, the spectacular poster signed by none other than Yoshitaka Amano.
Maestro Amano, who you surely know for Final Fantasy and you can admire it with the artbooks on Amazon, it is in fact the protagonist of the communication ofTuscan event dedicated to pop culture.
«Lucca Comics & Games has always wanted to present itself as a crossroads of contamination between different arts»declares the organization in the presentation of the event, introducing the singular work of which Amano will be the protagonist.
This year, in fact, the Lucca Comics & Games festival presents itself as a true operatic composition, entitled THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT.
The title refers to the well-known “Butterfly Effect”, a corollary of Chaos Theory which studies how small changes can lead to large consequences. For “The Butterfly Effect”, Amano created not just one image, but three, each representing an act of this extraordinary work.
The first act, “Overture”, marks the beginning of the dance with the press conference on June 26th. This inaugural moment is represented by the work that Amano dedicated to Puccini’s Tosca. An embrace between two characters, between physicality and imagination, which captures all the exuberant energy of the festival and the thousand colors of its audience of butterflies.
TO September, in Milan, the second act of the festival will arrive, which in a crescendo of news and announcements will populate its stage with the most beloved characters from the world of comics, fantasy and gaming. The image that will accompany this second phase will be dedicated to Madama Butterfly, to evoke the growing enthusiasm and anticipation that characterize the period preceding the festival.
The wait will culminate on October 30thin the third act, the festival itself, which will be represented with a third work by maestro Amano, this time linked to his immortal princess Turandot, to reflect the apotheosis of creativity and passion that is Lucca Comics & Games.
As regards the world of video games, Lucca Comics & Games 2024 already offers some very interesting events.
To celebrate Baldur’s Gate 3they will be there in Lucca Jason Latinocinematic director, Joachim Vleminckxart director, e Borislav Slavovmusic composer, who will share with the people of Lucca background, curiosities and insights into the birth and development of one of the most popular titles of recent years.
Furthermore Charles Cecil, game designer and co-founder of Revolution Software, brings Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged Collector’s Edition at Lucca Comics & Games. While Tetris will celebrate its 40th anniversary in Lucca Comics & Games with the participation of the creator and the game and the co-founder of The Tetris Company.
