The work will be completed by 2026. “This operation is a clear example of how, with the entry into the Iccrea cooperative banking group, our capacity for intervention in the territory has grown”, comments Roberto Scazzosi, president of the Bcc of Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate

Bcc Leasing, the Bcc Iccrea Group company specialized in leasing operations, has completed a loan of 12.9 million euros for the design, construction, maintenance (ordinary and extraordinary) and management for 20 years of the new swimming facility in Legnano. The operation, in synergy with Bcc di Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate and in temporary business association with Techne spa and A&T Europe spa (builders) and P&G srl (manager) benefited from PNRR funds for a further 2.5 million euros.

This is therefore an initiative that exploits the synergy between the PNRR contribution obtained by the Municipality and the financial leasing of public works in order to create, by 2026, a facility not only for Legnano sports associations, but also for local communities that will be able to return to having a point of reference for the discipline of swimming and for recreational activities.

«We are satisfied with the conclusion of this operation which, through the instrument of the public-private partnership, has allowed us to guarantee the municipality certainty on the times, costs and professionalism of the various actors involved – says Enrico Giancoli, general director of Bcc Leasing -. In fact, through this initiative we support economic planning and territorial planning, thanks to an overall vision of the interventions intended to reactivate the local economy, combat urban degradation and guarantee a service to the community”.

«This operation is a clear example of how our intervention capacity has grown. Previously, as a small local bank our resources placed limits on our ability to support projects of great economic importance. But since we are part of the Iccrea Cooperative Banking Group, which is the third national banking group in terms of branches and the fourth in terms of assets and which in fact represents the first local bank in the country, we can not only participate but also be catalysts of important initiatives that bring great benefits to the territory – comments Roberto Scazzosi, president of the Bcc of Busto Garolfo and Buguggiate -. The importance of having a local BCC of reference is fundamental: we are rooted in the community, we understand its needs and we can act directly to support the growth and well-being of our area. And our being part of the Iccrea Group amplifies this ability, allowing us to contribute in an even more significant way to the economic and social life of the territory.”

In detail, the new structure – which will be built between via Gorizia and viale Toselli – will have a children’s pool and two 25-metre internal pools: one for competitive purposes with 8 lanes and one for training/warming up in the event of competitions with 4 lanes, respectively 2 deep and 1.2 meters. There will also be a grandstand with a capacity of around 200 seats, new changing rooms and an entrance with bar and reception which will overlook a glass window from which you can watch the courses. All in a building with energy performance 20% lower than the threshold set for very low energy consumption buildings. Finally, the 50 meter summer pool will be redeveloped, which will be redefined with three different functional areas: an area dedicated to swimming (non-competitive) and fitness, a relaxation area and a spray park area intended for the little ones.

Thanks to this operation, and therefore with the commitment of the various actors involved who have pooled proven experiences and excellence, a community with a catchment area of more than 70 thousand people will have at its disposal a functional environment suitable for sporting growth , well-being and free time, for twelve months a year.

Lorenzo Radice, mayor of the municipality of Legnano, commented: «For us it is a source of great satisfaction to have identified the public/private partnership as the instrument that has paved the way for the solution of a long-standing problem for Legnano, such as that of the swimming facility. If, in fact, the insufficiency of the old system has been talked about for about fifteen years, it was at the end of 2019, following the collapse of a glass window, that the Legnano swimming pool entered a difficult phase, which became further complicated in the following years to the point of make it necessary not to renovate the existing one, but to create a new one. And it is thanks to the contribution of the members of the temporary business grouping, including Bcc Leasing, that Legnano will finally be able to have, from 2026, a structure worthy of its swimming tradition and in line with the increasingly complex use needs expressed by users”.

The sports councilor of the municipality of Legnano, Guido Bragato, adds: «We are on the eve of a historic moment in its own way for Legnano sport: the start of work on the new facility represents not only a fundamental turning point for giving sports clubs and citizens with an adequate structure, but will also allow us not to interrupt the swimming pool’s activity, as, after all, we have managed to do in recent years while facing considerable structural difficulties. At the end of this intervention we will be able to count on a structure that will be a point of reference for sports practice and free swimming not only for our city but for the territory; a qualitative leap also made possible by Bcc Leasing, which I thank.”
