Come back the 1st and 2nd of July ‘From Cloister to Cloister‘ The food and wine festival organized by Confesercenti Prato as part of the calendar of Tuscany showcase and the review Eat Prato. Two evenings dedicated to the best of culinary tradition with the tasting of wines and typical products.
Two new features: the inclusion in the itinerary of the Cloister of the Church of the Holy Spirit with the masterpieces of Filippo Lippi, Jacopo di Cione, Michele Tosini and Ridolfo Ghirlandaio and the debut of a Chinese cuisine restaurant. This is a first step towards a more complete representation of Prato’s food and wine.
A way to enhance typical products
From “a wonderful initiative” spoke the president of the regional council, Anthony Mazzeowho underlined the importance of valorising “of our typical products and the short supply chain in a land that is not only art and culture but also good food and excellent wines and food and wine is a way to make known how much goodness there is in our territories”.
The regional councillor for economy and tourism, Leonardo Marrashe defined ‘From cloister to cloister‘“one of the most important events in Tuscany. We willingly follow it, because it is one of the many regional events of ‘Vetrina Toscana’, according to which the products of the Tuscan countryside are used for the creation of typical dishes, perhaps revisited”.
A happy combination between tourism and traditions
From “an opportunity to discover hidden treasures, such as places or works of art” the mayor of Prato spoke, Ilaria Bugetti. “The idea of opening up the city and revealing places that are often unknown even to people from Prato is an attraction to be increasingly valorised” he added.
“The event – explained the provincial president of Confesercenti Prato Stefano Bonfanti – wants to be the link between tourism and traditions of our territory. Confesercenti Prato has decided to propose again for 2024 the event that has had great success in recent years. We have worked to transform it into an attraction not only for Prato, but for the entire metropolitan area”.
With obvious repercussions both on a tourist level and from an economic and gastronomic point of view. “Combining food and wine with art and tourism is certainly a winning formula and our province, like all of Tuscany, is rich in typical products and gastronomic traditions. Protecting and promoting these products is certainly one of the tasks of every local entrepreneur from an agricultural, industrial, commercial and tourism point of view.” he concluded.
The program of “From cloister to cloister”
The program of the event is rich free entry with drinks purchasable at the Cloisters’ cash registers. In that of Saint Dominic they will be 11 restaurants which will present traditional dishes with the novelty of a Chinese restaurant.
In the cloister of Sant’Agostino they will be four pastry chefs who will offer their products. While in the cloister of the Holy Spiritwith a background of live jazz music, you can sip long drinks, wine, beers and cocktails.
‘From Cloister to Cloister 2024‘ is promoted by Confesercenti Prato and fits into the program of events Eat Pratofollowing the framework agreement with the Municipality of Pratoas well as Tuscany showcasethe Region’s project in collaboration with Unioncamere Toscana.
The project has the common objective of promoting and enhancing the quality food and wine production of the area and of consolidating its tourist vocation. An event possible thanks to the availability of Curia which allowed the initiative to be implemented in exclusive locations.
