Antonio Gallo’s Career

Born in Naples on January 31, 2000, Antonio Gallo grew up in the ViviBasket nursery in the Neapolitan city. After his youth career and his debut as a senior at just 16 years old in the minors of Campania with Megaride, in 2017/18 he received the call from Cuore Napoli Basket, with whom he made his debut in Serie A2, collecting 12 appearances and as many total points .

In the following season he moved to Serie B in Scauri, where he averaged 7.6 points and 1.7 assists. He wore the Virtus Arechi Salerno shirt for two years, then moved to Pozzuoli: here, Gallo managed to carve out an important role for himself by putting together a season of 13.6 points (56% from two, 40% from three), 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists (second overall in all B).

In 2022/23 he moved to Matelica, where he is a teammate of the new yellow-blue big man Fadilou Seck. In Matelica he produced 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists. In Sant’Antimo he confirmed himself as the protagonist of the category, with 14 points, 3 rebounds and almost 6 assists on average. Now, the call from Turin to demonstrate that they are ready for the leap to Serie A2.

With the 3×3 national team

Since 2022, Gallo has been part of the Italian national team in the FIBA 3×3 circuit. He wore the blue shirt during the Mediterranean Games in Oran and during the Nations League and the Europe Cup qualifiers.

“I am very happy to join an important club like Basket Torino,” he says Antonio Gallo after signing the agreement with the yellow-blue club. “Above all, I am happy to start working with coach Boniciolli, who I have already had the opportunity to know and meet in person. My first sensations are of enthusiasm and happiness. Personally I want to demonstrate my value in this category too, trying to give my best on the pitch and doing what is asked of me

coach. I can’t wait to come to Turin, meet the fans, my teammates and all the Basket Torino staff. I’m pumped up and ready to start working.”

Coach Matteo Boniciolli’s statements on Antonio Gallo

The coach explains the choice to focus on Gallo, after having worked with the boy in recent days in Bormio: “To complete the Italians’ department, only a point guard was missing to join Matteo Schina. After reports from several colleagues, I got in touch with Antonio Gallo and his agency. I asked him if he was interested in playing in Turin, and when he answered in the affirmative, I told him that I would like to see him in person these days. The boy proved to be immediately available, so much so that he took a train from Naples to Bormio, where I was, to train with me and to convince me to sign him. I believe that these are the motivations that a team like ours will have to have during the season, to try to go beyond its limits. Antonio is a boy who has been a protagonist in the Serie B championship for three years, which I know for a fact is a very tough championship, having attended it at the time of Fortitudo. He is a player used to exercising leadership, playing the pick and roll and leading the fast break. He will be a perfect traveling companion for Matteo Schina in this very tough championship.”
