TREVISO – The redoing work starts on Monday Ottavi bridge and the residents of the Sant’Angelo and Santa Maria del Sile neighborhoods are protesting because they fear being isolated given the concurrent construction site which also blocks the underpass in via Sarpi: «It is madness to start the work on the bridge before having finished the work on the underpass», it is the most widespread thought. Many messages also reached Mayor Mario Conte who, from his social media, responded and attempted to restore calm: “The two interventions will not overlap.”
REASSURANCE
«I am receiving quite a few messages about the start of work on the Ottavi bridge – says the mayor – I want to clarify and reiterate some things, which had also been fully explained in the two (very well attended) public meetings. The intervention will take place in two phases: in the first (1 July – end of August) two-way traffic will be maintained and via Plinio il Vecchio will be closed.” So no closure. Then the second phase of the intervention will begin, more complex, which will last just under a year: «Only starting from the second phase (from the end of August to the end of June 2025), there will be the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the infrastructure, with modifications to traffic. There will therefore be no overlap with the works underway in via Sarpi, which will finish in August. I also remember that this period was chosen to avoid the daily school traffic.”
