The University Hospital presents the donation made by the Wildlife Center The Robin of Modena by ENF Medical Device which emits an asymmetric biphasic sine wave called Feedback Electrotherapy or Adaptive Electrotherapy. The equipment, produced by Fast Therapies and worth 23,000 thousand euros, was donated to Rheumatology directed by the professor Dilia Giuggioli. ENF is intended for use in medical and physiotherapy disciplines. ENF Adaptive electrotherapy modulates the emission of electrical impulses in real time as skin impedance varies. Present at the meeting were the Director General, Dr. Claudio Vagnini, the doctor Gilda SandriRheumatology Doctor, Dr Marco Ghinicontact person for the fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain clinic of the AOU and AUSL-MO and doctor Marco De Pinto, of the Scleroderma UNIT. With them also the representatives of Fast Therapies, an all-Italian company based on Lake Garda, Silvia Milani And Guido Somenzi.

“It is very important to present this tool in the Rheumatology of the AOU of Modena – explained the General Director, doctor Claudio Vagnini – where there is, the only center at provincial level, a clinic dedicated to fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain and which works in network with the provincial territory within the framework of Reuma-Net-Mo.

“Chronic pain is one of the most significant and disabling symptoms for patients suffering from rheumatic diseases. – comments the professor Dilia Giuggioli, Director of Rheumatology and UNIMORE professor – From chronic inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis), to systemic sclerosis and other connective diseases. But above all, fibromyalgia is characterized by the presence of chronic disabling pain that is difficult to manage. For this reason it is essential for us to be able to have this device capable of carrying out a therapy that will try to help patients by soothing pain with good electrical impulses.”

“We have been volunteering in the area for 23 years and in all these years the support of the citizens has been fundamental so that the Center could continue its protection activities for wildlife in the best possible way – he added Donato Simonelli, Pettirosso Volunteer – Precisely for this reason we thought we would do something for the citizens. From this thought arose the idea of finding something innovative to be allocated to public health with possible developments in the field of research. Thanks to in-depth research by one of our volunteers, assisted by a professional in the sector, the ENF STUDIO medical device designed for the treatment of complex pathologies such as fibromyalgia was identified. It is a technological excellence made in Italy. At this point it was necessary to evaluate who to allocate the device to and the choice fell on the Rheumatology department of the Polyclinic, also considering the large number of complex pathologies treated by Professor Giuggioli’s staff”.

Compared to other similar equipment, ENF allows a modulated pulse based on the characteristics of the skin and therefore allows for a more targeted therapy. “Through the reading of parameters linked to the impedance of the skin – explains the doctor Gilda Sandri, Rheumatologist who follows, among other things, patients with chronic pain – the impulse sent by the ENF undergoes a continuous modification due to the neurological reactions of the receiving subject, activating a negative feedback loop. ENF technology generates packets of bipolar and biphasic electrical impulses in succession, physiologically similar to nerve impulses, which interact with the organism on which a pair of electrodes is applied in contact with the skin. It is therefore an important aid to our pain therapy.”

Dr. Marco Ghinirepresentative of the fibromyalgia and chronic widespread pain clinic of the AOU and AUSL-MO, “reiterates that adaptive electrotherapy, indicated mainly in the management of localized muscle contractures, could have a role, alongside dedicated paths, and with the use of adequate electrodes, also in the treatment of chronic widespread pain”.

“A huge thank you to Franco Rastelli for his tireless and effective collaboration. We would also like to thank Fast Terapies, the Confraternita Amici del Suffragio, Lidia PENAZZI, MESSORI Marco, Unipol Sai Assicurazioni, Pace SPA, Ecotecnica Snc, Uffix Srl, Litotipografia Poppi, MAG Ascensori, G&CO Srl, Tecnolaser Europa Srl, Distribuzione Materiale Tecnico Srl, Immobiliare TIMAVO, Gavioli Srl, Immobiliare Julie SRL, TIEFFE Service SRL, Methodo Snc, Gamma Office Srl, Logo Pubblicità Srl, Macelleria Barchetta”, reads the company’s note.
