sentenced to 3 and a half years

“You have to change your attitude, otherwise I’ll throw you out of the house.” This was just one of the threats that the man had made over time to the boy, his partner’s son. There was no shortage of heavy insults and beatings, once even with a belt. The victim had told them in an evidentiary incident during the prosecutor’s investigations, confirming a climate of domestic harassment and fear.

For those facts, AR, 43, from Novara, was sentenced to 3 and a half years in prison for mistreatment, as requested by the public prosecutor. The defendant’s lawyer had spoken of a rather complicated family situation, an “extended” family, in which it was not clear whether the perpetrator of some of the alleged harassment was even the boy’s father, a boy who was particularly disobedient even with his mother and not only with her partner, and who was scolded because he spent all his time in front of the TV and the Play Station.

The defense, assuming that there were threats and punishments, had at least asked for the most serious crime of mistreatment to be downgraded to that of “abuse of the means of correction”. The appeal is obvious.
