He arrived in Cagliari from Ulassai with his carer. In a moment of distraction from his companion, he walked away. And he forgot why and where he was. But the misadventure of a 101-year-old elderly man ended well thanks to the intervention of the police.
The military personnel were alerted by a phone call reporting the presence of an elderly man wandering in a confused state in Viale Bonaria.
The command is right there, two steps away, the intervention of a patrol was immediate. The police found the man visibly disoriented and unable to provide useful details about his identity or residence.
First the reassurances, then the start of the “investigation” to understand who he was. Thanks to the memories of the gentleman and the collaboration with the registry officesit turned out that the old man lives in Ulassai.
After contacting the Municipality, it was possible to trace the gentleman’s carer, who had momentarily lost sight of his client. In the meantime, the police offered the elderly man all the necessary assistance, entertaining him with courtesy and respect, awaiting the reunion. Which was followed by a souvenir photo, requested by the refreshed elderly man.
