This afternoon, the official proclamation of the new Mayor, Marialuisa Forte, was held at the Municipality of Campobasso. The ceremony, which took place at 4.00 pm sharp, saw the participation of judge Roberta D’Onofrio, president of the electoral commission of Palazzo San Giorgio, who read the device conferring the official investiture to the newly elected.
Marialuisa Forte makes history as the first woman to lead the municipality of Campobasso elected directly by the citizens. Her election is part of a national trend that has seen a strong female presence in recent elections, turning various capitals from Florence to Perugia pink. In the Campobasso city council, this new wave could translate into 8 pink seats out of 32, marking a significant change in the city’s political representation.
Supported by the progressive coalition, Marialuisa Forte won the run-off against Aldo De Benedittis, a member of the centre-right. She succeeds Paola Felice, acting mayor of the 5 Star Movement, who today symbolically passed the baton by handing over the tricolor sash and the keys to the office amid the applause of those present.
The handover took place in a climate of enthusiasm and hope. Paola Felice extended her best wishes to the new mayor, wishing her success in her mandate. Marialuisa Forte, on her first day as mayor, officially assumed full powers and responsibilities of the city, ready to begin her administrative journey with determination and commitment.
