ten days for the proclamation

A definite date for the proclamation of the mayor of Avellino there is not yet. Between seven and ten days, the time expected to complete all the operations imposed by the legislation. But, obviously, this period is subject to variations. In any case, once the proclamation has been made, it will be necessary to convene the first city council meeting within ten days. At that location, the first citizen Laura Nargi could already present herself with the council team, after having sworn in wearing the tricolour sash in the assembly hall in Piazza del Popolo.

As regards the proclamation, therefore, the legislation provides for municipalities with a population exceeding 15,000 inhabitants «the establishment of a specific collegial body called the Central Office for the purposes of carrying out the operations of summarizing the results of all the sections of the Municipality as well as proclaiming the mayor, distributing the councilor seats between the individual lists and proclaiming the municipal councillors”. The central office is made up of «the president of the Court competent for the territory or another magistrate delegated by the president of the Court, who presides over it, and six voters of the Municipality suitable for the office of electoral section presidentamong those registered in the appropriate register, appointed by the President of the Court within five days of the publication of the notice convening the rallies”.

The proclamation of those elected is then carried out from the president of the central electoral office after the summary of the results in the various sections. The city council, in the session following the elections, before deliberating on any other matter, and even if no complaints have been made, must examine the conditions of the mayor and the councilors and declare them ineligible, if one of the causes provided for by law exists. With the official announcement, the Nargi era at the top of the City Hall can begin. Only at that point will the commissioner phase be closed. The extraordinary commissioner Paolo D’Attilio and the deputy commissioner, Rosanna Gamerra (chief of staff of the Prefecture of Avellino), are ensuring the ordinary management of the institution after the resignation of former mayor Gianluca Festa.

Soon, there will also be the official announcement of those elected to the city council. From the verification of the data emerging from the ballot, twelve seats are assigned to the Truly list. They are the prerogative of Marianna Mazza, Jessica Tomasetta, Antonio Genovese, Mario Spiniello, Gianluca Gaeta, Giuseppe Negrone, Giovanna Vecchione, Ugo Maggio, Luigi Preziosi, Elia De Simone, Nicole Mazzeo and Michele Lombardi. Six councilors elected with We Avellino: Alberto Bilotta, Luigi Mattiello, Olimpia Rusolo, Fabio Liberale, Antonella Coppola, Gerardo Rocchetta. W La Libertà obtains two seats, which go to Monica Spiezia and Teresa Cucciniello.

The opposition benches they will be occupied by four representatives of the Democratic Party. Nicola Giordano, Enza Ambrosone, Ettore Iacovacci and Luca Cipriano were elected. Two of those on the list For Gengaro Mayor: Amalio Santoro and Antonio Bellizzi. Only one city councilor for the Five Star Movement. This is Antonio Aquino. App’s position will be absorbed by mayoral candidate Antonio Gengaro. Still. Another two seats go to the Moderates and Reformists team (which supported Rino Genovese). They are attributed to Geppino Giacobbe and Sergio Trezza.

One place goes to Gerardo Melillo for Forza Avellino and one for Patto Civico, which will be taken by Rino Genovese, the other competitor for the tricolor band who climbed to the third step of the podium and then supported Laura Nargi’s race in the run-off. Now, therefore, we will only have to wait for the technical times to confirm the allocation of seats with the proclamation of the mayor and the thirty-two city councilors who will sit in the assembly in Piazza del Popolo. Only then will the commissioner phase end after the resignation of the previous administration following the “Dolce Vita” investigation into the former mayor Gianluca Festa.
