returning to Serie C is the goal for next season

When we hear about Piacenza football, inevitably the fans cannot help but remember the glories of Serie A. The Emilian club, in fact, which has been playing between Serie C and D for some years following successive failures over time, has participated in eight championships in the top flight between 1993 and 2003; in particular, until 2001 it fielded exclusively Italian players, a real record considering that now it is almost difficult to find Italian footballers in Serie A teams.

The goal of Serie C last season was achieved very little: the 2-2 draw on the last day against Varesina and the victory of Caldiero brought the latter to Serie C, but president Polenghi immediately promised to try again: ” The great regret I carry within me is that we were not able to give this great joy to the fans and to all those who work for Piacenza. In any case, everything good that has been done will be useful for next year. Our fans are our great weapon, we owe a lot to them and we must work even harder to achieve important results. Today there is great disappointment, but we want to start again from here in view of next season.”

Therefore, a great disappointment to be transformed into pride for next season. The objective, although challenging, will be monitored not only by the media, but also by the various bookmakers who, through their statistical tools, represent a good evaluation thermometer to understand whether or not there will actually be these ambitions for the change of course. However, if you had the intention of placing a bet on one result rather than another, which is currently almost premature, it could be advantageous to take into consideration welcome bonuses or other forms of bonuses made available by the various online gaming platforms, since would make it possible to minimize the risks arising from the realization of the event itself.

On the other hand, the objective of returning to Serie C, after relegation from group A in the 22-23 season, vanished, as mentioned, by a whisker, at the end of a championship that ended in second place with 22 wins, 8 draws and 8 defeats for the team coached by Rossini.

The fans’ support, however, has never been lacking, given that against Varesina away, around 800 supporters followed the team: for these categories, these are record numbers! Now we will have to try again, assembling a team that meets the expectations of the eve.

Piacenza aiming for Serie C

As we said, for a team that has played in the top Italian league for several years, settling for Serie D is a bit reductive. The Emilian supporters, but also the most nostalgic, will certainly remember some of the players who wore the Piacenza shirt in Serie A, such as the striker Dario Hubner, who played in many provincial teams of Italian football and wore the shirt of Piacenza from 2001 to 2003, scoring 39 goals in 62 overall matches, or Pietro Vierchowod, who ended his career in Piacenza with 83 appearances and 4 goals from 1997 to 2000.

As mentioned, in 2012 a phase of serious financial crisis culminated in judicial bankruptcy with consequent expulsion from the FIGC on 21 June 2012. From that moment on, the parable of Piacenza football has experienced more ups and downs, navigating between Serie C and D, but always playing championships at a good level.

Today the club is working to get back on top and for next season, which will begin on September 18th, it is ready to set up a competitive team. The official arrivals of defender Matthias Solerio, former San Giuliano, of the midfielder (but also second striker if necessary) Billy Bithiene, who last season wore the Caldiero Terme shirt with which he scored 3 goals and 7 assists in 36 races. Lastly, the arrival of Mattia Mauri should be noted, a striker who played for Clodiense in the last year, but above all has just won two Serie D championships consecutively.
