Bergamo. For forty years in uniform, Mirco Rossi he has always been a point of reference for Bergamo, often going beyond the simple task of a private security guard to become a true champion of legality.
A few years after his retirement, he tirelessly decided to commit himself to a new and laborious role, providing service to the community, albeit in a different way: candidate in the last municipal elections of Dalminethe town in which he lives, he joined the municipal council, obtaining the role of councilor.
“When they asked me to join Bramani’s civic list, I agreed, to support a friend – declares Rossi -. I am sixty years old, I have never been involved in politics, so I never thought I would obtain certain results, that many of my fellow citizens would place hopes in me and trust my contribution in the political sphere. I am simultaneously enthusiastic and disoriented, I don’t know how to behave because it is a completely new environment for me, but I will certainly do my best to fulfill the task they have assigned to me.”
He has always consistently pursued order and security, reaching the rank of marshal, the most prestigious among the “operational”: After 33 years of service in Italian Surveillance and numerous awards obtained in the field, he received the commendation from the Bergamo Police Headquarters.
“When I started I had just turned twenty – he says -. In particular I remember the first time I took part in a shooting; I had received a report from a company in Osio Sotto, when I arrived I surprised two thieves who were forcing the lock and, as soon as they saw me, they shot. From that moment I understood that I had to do something more for the safety of my city, I had to work hard to prevent events like that from happening.”
Mirco Rossi represented a fundamental pillar of the company for the Bergamo area, ensuring continuity and stability; a point of reference not only on the security front, but also a friendly presence on the streets of the city, where he was inevitably a protagonist in the fight against crime.
“I have a lot to say about the activities I have carried out on the street among shopkeepers, entrepreneurs and the police force – he claims -. In particular, an episode that has profoundly changed me dates back to a very sad period of my life, when my wife passed away; I decided to offer support to those who had suffered permanent damage due to the flood in Emilia Romagna, I spent my energy helping the most needy and thanks to this experience I returned home more relieved, knowing that I had done the right thing despite my loss”.
The issue of security is the fulcrum of the marked sensitivity of the now former marshal of the sworn forces, who has always had the protection of the province at heart. His passion for politics is strongly linked to the role he held for years with dedication and loyalty and which made him a figure of great prestige from which one has the opportunity to learn. His interest in the municipal dynamics of Bergamo has always been evident, fueled by a deep and rooted sense of responsibility in maintaining order and discipline; in particular the need and desire to create a strong and safe country to support the people he loves.
“I decided to run because I had had the opportunity to discuss the issue of protection and integrity with the mayor – he continues -. To date, in a different form, I am still maintaining my role as peacemaker in the city that I love and support; I firmly believe that the basic form of law and security must be guaranteed for any citizen.”
“I love my job and I would like, even in the political sphere, to dedicate myself to safeguarding my country; I don’t know if I would be able to tackle a task other than that of city councilor for safety, it is a topic that I am passionate about and that touches me deeply, I would probably resign in favor of others who are more competent”.
The certificates of merit and recognitions collected over time are truly many, from the municipal administrations of Dalmine, Torre Boldone, Bergamo and Spirano, from the Industrial Union for excellence at work, from the Aci of Bergamo.
In a period in which trust in institutions is crucial, figures like Mirco Rossi represent hope and a beacon of stability. His career in surveillance and his commitment to the city of Bergamo are testimony to how commitment, passion and a strong sense of duty can contribute to improving the life of an entire community.
