Acireale (Ct), AIAS 29 June conference “Third Sector: ethical and productive locomotive of the country”

On Saturday 29 June, at 5.00 pm, in the “ALICE ANDERHUB” conference room in Aias Acireale (via Lazzaretto 65), a meeting will be held focused on the theme “Third Sector: Ethical and Productive Locomotive of the Country”, organized by the Maria Barbagallo Foundation and the LAD Association (L’Albero dei Desideri) and sponsored by AIEOP (Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology).

The meeting offers a significant opportunity to reflect on the crucial role of the Third Sector in contemporary society.

Non-profit organizations work primarily for social, cultural and environmental well-being, reinvesting any surpluses in their goals. These entities are important for supporting the public and private sectors, providing essential services and support to vulnerable communities.

The conference will therefore be a moment of comparison and analysis, aimed at valorising positive experiences and discussing future challenges, with the aim of strengthening the role of the Third Sector as the ethical and productive driving force of Italy.

Speakers at this event include:

Gigi De Palo – General Director of the Angelini Foundation, Arcangelo Prete – President of AIEOP (Italian Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology), Enrico Trantino – Mayor of Catania, Maria Teresa Bellucci – Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policies. Greetings are entrusted to Roberto Barbagallo – Mayor of Acireale and the works are introduced by Monsignor Antonino Raspanti, Bishop of Acireale and President of CESi.

Among the positive examples of the Third Sector, we will mention WonderLAD, a house/workshop in Catania that adopts the art therapy method and represents an innovative project of the Third Sector in Italy. It supports young patients with serious illnesses and their families with creative workshops to improve the quality of life during treatment. Located in a two-hectare park, WonderLAD uses ecological materials and has a low environmental impact.

The conference in Acireale is moderated by Emilio Randazzo, Founder of LAD, who declares:

“It is important to develop an ever greater synergy between businesses and non-profit organizations belonging to the third sector”.

Favara Scacco, LAD president, concludes: “This new model allows us to address social challenges from different angles, using the resources and skills of both worlds to support sustainable development and the common good”.

On the same day, in the morning, Saturday 29th at 10.30 am, the new playground in the large garden of Lad will also be inaugurated, dedicated to the journalist Maria Grazia Cutuli, originally from the Barriera district of Catania where the site is located and murdered in Afghanistan in 2001. Enrico Trantino – Mayor of Catania and Maria Teresa Bellucci – Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policies will also be present.
