‘Mayor’: Tiziana Baccolini immediately specifies that she wants to be called ‘mayor’ of Nonantola. Her victory, in the run-off, as a candidate supported by the Pd and Nonantola Attiva, was clear: she obtained 68.79% with 3,589 votes, compared to the centre-right candidate Monica Contursi, who totaled 31.21% with 1,628 preferences , in a challenge that was all-female from the first round.
How was your first day as first citizen?
“Of great satisfaction, I continue to be inundated with messages, phone calls, compliments and affection. And at the same time challenging due to the emergency linked to the rising of the Panaro river. As Councilor for the Environment, in the past legislature, I had already participated in the management of emergencies and this, with the support of the offices, helped me coordinate the volunteers and reassure the citizens”.
The lack of a broad center-left alliance influenced the failure to reach the quorum in the first round. Do you intend to act to unite the souls of the center left? “In the two weeks before the second round I met the candidate Cinzia Vaccari, who was supported by Nonantola project 2030 and Il futuro Ora. In light of our programs and the different programmatic points, I was told that they would support me in the run-off and then open a discussion on the themes, which also present similarities, which are closest to the heart of both”.
Council theme: how will it precede?
“To date I have only one certain name, Massimo Po, with whom I have shared the experience of the council. His delegations have yet to be defined, but he will certainly be the deputy mayor”.
To whom do you dedicate the victory?
“To my parents, Ennio and Alferina, who would be proud of my success.”
