PESARO New guide for Apa Hotels Pesaro, the aim is to count more and more at the tables that count because tourism is a “crucial segment of the Pesaro economy”. Marco Filippetti will be appointed today as the new president of the Pesaro hoteliers, chosen unanimously by the association’s board of directors. Filippetti, son of the entrepreneur Nardo, came to this position at the age of 41 with high-level studies in the tourism sector behind him starting from a series of master’s degrees and specialization courses attended abroad.

The experience

His experience in the field was also consolidated thanks to the vice-presidency of the Lindemberg Hotels & Resorts group which manages 4 and 5 star hotels: the Excelsior Spa & Lido, the Nautilus Family Hotel and the Charlie Urban Hotel in Pesaro but also La Meridiana Urban Hotel in Perugia, the Grand Hotel San Pietro in Taormina, the Sikania Resort & Spa in Marina di Butera, the Modica Beach Resort in Marina di Modica and the Homie in Rimini. He succeeds Paolo Costantini who left for personal reasons.

For Apa Hotels there is the «need to strengthen the association as a representative interlocutor of city hospitality capable of creating a shared path of promotion and planning for the benefit of its members which can build, starting from Pesaro 2024, new tourist attraction tools ». The person who has been on the board for years is Roberto Signorini, owner of Imperial Sport under the aegis of Unaway. The proposal is clear. «We will have a young president with his own program, the entire board is ready to lend him a hand because we want to be increasingly strong interlocutors». The message is clear. «We need more attention to tourism because it is good for everyone – continues Signorini – not only for hoteliers but for all categories. It is a segment that relocates, but too often it has been considered marginal, dominated by industry even if it has an impact on the employment and economic level of the city. Often everything that revolves around it has not been considered.”

The criticisms

There is no shortage of criticism: «Pesaro Capital of Culture 2024 is an exceptional result, but the management is objectively not very exciting. Something has changed in the last few days, but we have had complaints from tourists who could not find sites and cultural places open. Hoteliers have invested and are investing in the structures, the administration must row towards this sector and make the city attractive all year round with investments on the seafront and with the opening of attractions. There’s no money? The tourist tax is worth 1.3 million euros and we want to be protagonists in its management.” As for the current season. «The Fimba basketball tournament saved us for this part of June. For now we notice the flows at the weekend, we need events to bring people and related activities.”
