The municipal administration of Carpi informs that the heavy rains of the last 48 hours have caused the Secchia river to reach significant levels.
The situation is constantly monitored by the Municipal Operations Centre, constantly available on 334/6080829, which can be contacted for any information, emergency or to communicate particular needs. Furthermore, constant monitoring of the embankment sections is active, and timely verification of the situations of citizens in fragile conditions, with the related interventions where necessary; in collaboration with the competent veterinary service, the situations of animal farms closest to the banks were also examined.

The citizens of Cortile, San Martino Secchia and all residents near the river banks are invited to move to the upper floors of their homes and pay maximum attention.

Again with reference to these hamlets, furthermore, as a precaution, the “Acquarello” Nursery School in Cortile and the Summer Center in Cortile will be closed on Wednesday 26/06; similarly, the closure of the fractional cemeteries of San Martino Secchia and Cortile was ordered.

In any case, the population is recommended:
– To limit travel by car to what is strictly necessary and to stay away from watercourses, bridges and underground roads;
– Not to use underground and basement floors and prepare to go to the upper floors if necessary;
– To group together the most important personal effects that could be needed in the event of a possible evacuation (house keys, money, identity documents, medicines, raincoats and spare clothing, bottle of water and torch, etc.);
– If the building is abandoned, shut off the gas, electricity and water utilities;
– To pay the utmost attention and to follow all the instructions that will be issued on behalf of the Mayor and the public authorities.
