The Italian Association of Golf Journalists awarded the “Golden Ball – Targa Fulvio Golob” award to Roberto Zappa, a professional with thirty years of experience, technical commissioner of the women’s national amateur team and one of the most appreciated voices in golf on Sky Sport.
The “Pallina d’Oro” awards the person who – in the opinion of the Aigg journalists – has distinguished himself most in the panorama of Italian golf for competitive, technical or managerial merits. The voting involves the formulation of a series of nominations by the Association’s board of directors, after a survey among all the members. For each category (players, technicians, managers) three names are indicated. The members must cast one vote for each category. The candidate who receives the most votes overall is awarded the prize. This year, as mentioned, it was Roberto Zappa’s turn, who already in 2012 had climbed to the second step of the podium, winning the Pallina d’Argento.

The award ceremony was held, as per tradition, during the Italian Open, this year hosted by the Adriatic Golf Club of Cervia. In the press room of the DP World Tour tournament, Roberto Zappa was awarded by the president of the FIG, Professor Franco Chimenti, the president of the AIGG, Stefano Cazzetta and the AIGG councilor Paolo Emilio Pacciani.
