The 2024 edition of the Estate Sammichelina was presented today at the headquarters of the Regional Presidency, with the Mayor of Sammichele di Bari, Lorenzo Netti, members of the Municipal Council and Council, the president of the Regional Council’s Culture Commission, Lucia Parchitelli, and the director of the Department of Tourism and Culture of the Puglia Region, Aldo Patruno.
Over 80 events organized by the Municipal Administration of Sammichele di Bari in collaboration with the Puglia Region, the Metropolitan City of Bari, the Associations and productive activities of the territory.
The promotion of the territory passes through culture, history and food and wine activities which make the Municipality of Sammichele di Bari one of the most attractive Municipalities in our Region, today a destination for tourists, also thanks to its recognition as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy”.
Everything revolves around the Caracciolo Castle, home to the “Dino Bianco” Museum of Rural Civilization, a treasure chest of knowledge and history.
The Municipal Administration of Sammichele di Bari is in line with the Manifesto for Cultural Welfare approved by the Regional Council of Puglia: “a new way of understanding culture, as a tool for individual and social well-being”.
Sammichelina Summer started with “The Romantic Night in one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy”, on the evening of June 22, 2024. An opportunity to celebrate love and romance in the magic of the squares and alleys. A fairly rich program starting with the lighting of the “Luci d’Amore”, to continue with exhibitions, thematic visits to the Museum, musical performances, candlelight dinners organized by the restaurants that joined the event and served the dessert “Pensiero d’amore” specially created for the event.
Important events will take place throughout the summer.
In collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Bari, two concerts of the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra will be held (on June 12th “Al sole di Sicilia” and on July 24th “Vento d’Estate’”).
The Sammichelina Summer 2024 sees the second edition of the brilliant comedy theatre review “Sorrisi Nel Borgo” (6 companies will compete on 26-27 June, 3-17-18-22 July; the Grand Gala Awards Ceremony is scheduled for 25 July).
The “Shall we dance?” review is confirmed; three events (5-12 and 19 July), for the valorization of the dance schools of the territory. In this way the bond of our country with the carnival tradition is strengthened.
The Regional Voice Festival organized in collaboration with the Pro Loco “Dino Bianco” is back. Three evenings (6-13-21 July) in which young talents compete on the notes of great musical successes.
A novelty for Summer 2024 is the passage from Sammichele di Bari of the Milano–Taranto, a re-enactment for vintage motorbikes in stages which has crossed Italy since July 1987. On July 13th there will be time control with stops and refreshments for participants in Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
Also this year In Tango Festivalito is back. On July 26th and 27th the magical atmospheres of tango will enliven Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
From 30 July to 3 August, the fourth edition of the Sammichele Music Festival will be held in Piazza Vittorio Veneto; This year’s guests will be: July 30, Alexia; July 31 Clara; August 01 Haddaway; 02 August Nina Zilli; August 03 Boomdabash.
Another novelty for Summer 2024: the Borgo dei Desideri on August 10th. Magical night, that of San Lorenzo, on August 10th, in which wishes come true.
The Bari in Jazz festival stops again in Sammichele di Bari, on August 22nd and 24th, in the magical setting of the Caracciolo Castle. The whole thing takes place thanks to a project by the Abusuan Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, Pugliapromozione and the Teatro Pubblico Pugliese.
The Castello di Libri award reaches its third edition. Format conceived by the Municipality of Sammichele di Bari and Radici Future Produzioni. The awarded guests will be: on September 5th Enrica Simonetti; on September 6th Leonardo Palmisano and on September 7th Valentina Petrini.
Factory Film Festival (12-13 and 14 September). Film festival, which opens its doors to art and music. It was born from the collaboration with illustrious partners: the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari, the Apulia Film Commission and the ISS Rosa Luxemburg.
The 2024 Sammichelina Summer will culminate with the 58th edition of the Zampina, Bocconcino and Good Wine Festival (27-28 and 29 September). It has always been one of the most important and well-known Apulian food and wine events which attracts, from all over Italy and beyond, many aficionados who come to Sammichele di Bari to appreciate, in addition to the gastronomic specialities, also the very high quality musical entertainment.
The summer program is completed and enriched by: conferences, film screenings, book presentations, photographic and painting exhibitions, markets of artisanal products and km0 products, dance halls, and events linked to the tradition of the San Michele carnival.
