It will be there Sicilywith its extraordinary and unmistakable heritage, the only region to represent the excellence of the country at Village Italythe traveling mini Expo, which involves eleven ministries and which will showcase Made in Italy following the second part of the world tour ofAmerigo Vespucci.

It will begin in Los Angeles on July 3rd, when two symbols of Italianness, the training ship Amerigo Vespucci and the Frecce Tricolori, will arrive overseas to underline the bond between our compatriots and their land of origin. The Navy ship will land on July 3 in the Californian port for the first time in history and will remain there until the 8th. Accompanying the Vespucci is also the exciting flyover of the national aerobatic team Frecce Tricolori of the Air Force. The Villaggio Italia exhibition space will be set up on the quay, which will allow visitors to taste typical foods, attend art exhibitions, shows, concerts and other interesting events. The Region has activated, through “Io Compro Siciliano”, a channel of collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles which has made it possible to carve out a space dedicated to the Island within the exhibition village.

“Sicily is the beating heart of Italy in America and the network of Sicilians abroad is a powerful force – declares the regional councilor for Productive Activities, Edy Tamajo – We couldn’t miss the opportunity to be protagonists of a story that highlights our region as a symbol of Italian excellence and can represent an extraordinary opportunity for our businesses.”

The “Torna a Casa” project of “Io Compro Siciliano”, the heart of the presence in Los Angeles, already presented in Palermo last December 12, will build a bridge between Sicilians in the world and their roots, an invitation to return home to become firsthand ambassadors of Made in Sicily.

Alongside the activities, an exclusive evening dedicated to operators is planned in the Village, during which a selection of Sicilian products will be presented, some already present in the United States and others ready to conquer this market. Marking the island’s presence was a large delegation of twenty artists and performers, led by Marco Savatteri, the craftsmanship of the ceramist Domenico Boscia and the excellence of Sicilian agri-food production.

“Torna a Casa” is produced by “Io Compro Siciliano”, by the General Consulate of Italy in Los Angeles, by the Department of Productive Activities of the Sicilian Region with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Radici Tourism Directorate. The initiative enjoys the support of the regional department of Agriculture, that of cultural heritage and Sicilian identity, of the Valle dei Templi archaeological park and the patronage of the family department with responsibility for emigration, of the Municipality of Catania and of the Municipality of Palermo. Support also from Unpli (National Pro Loco Union of Italy) and USEF (Sicilian Union of Emigrants and Families), a historic association of Sicilian emigrants abroad.
