Hail as if it were snow in the Marche municipality, where the roads turned into rivers of ice, creating quite a few traffic problems. Mayor Massimiliano Ciarpella brought together the Coc, the municipal operations centre, with the Civil Protection, supported by the local police.
Bad weather hit the Marchand with thunderstorms and strong hailstorms. In some areas of the province of Fermo the hail literally invaded the streets creating a real disaster ice river. She was certainly the most affected Porto Sant’Elpidio.
There hailstorm however, it was fleeting – about ten minutes, around 2.30 pm – but it caused quite a few inconvenience for motorists. At the moment no major damage has been reported, although many roads have become practically impassable: for the moment the most affected are via XX Settembre, via San Francesco d’Assisi, central seafront. In several homes they are reported flooding.
Severe slowdowns were also reported along the A14 in the stretch between Civitanova and Porto Sant’Elpidio, in both directions.

“A huge hailstorm Without precedents“, defined it by the deputy mayor of Porto Sant’Elpidio, Andrea Balestrieri. “The civil protection is already at work as well as all the police forces. Let’s avoid travel during these minutes. We also asked for reinforcements at a regional level”, added Balestrieri.
