The TAR has decided: appeal inadmissible, the market can go to Campo del Palio

“Inadmissible”: this is what the TAR ruled when faced with the appeal lodged by street vendors against the transfer of the market from Piazza Alfieri to Campo del Palio. The announcement is from the Councilor for Commerce Mario Bovino, who assures us that we will now move forward with the project of a single, organized market in Campo del Palio.

The new arrangement is expected to start from July 3rd. However, it is not excluded that the part of street vendors who oppose and would like to remain in Piazza Alfieri implement other forms of protest or decide to appeal to the Council of State.

The trade councilor Mario Bovino is satisfied but does not want to talk about victory: “This is a great opportunity for the city and for all the street vendors: we believe a lot in this project because the facts demonstrate that the market as it is in the square Alfieri has no future.” Therefore, from 3 July the new arrangement will be: “It will be a sort of open-air supermarket, very well organised. We have resources to invest to ensure that this new market can become even more attractive. On the other hand, it was a small minority who promoted the appeal, from what we understand the majority of street vendors agree”
