The boy had been living with his grandparents for four years in a mini apartment in via Niccolò da Tolentino and had arrived in Florence to study, while his parents remained in Peru. Maria Teresa Flores Chavez was a nurse in a facility for psychiatric patients and in another for Alzheimer’s patients near Careggi. He had a partnera musician but in this period he was traveling for concerts.

Contradictory story

The nephew initially told the police that he had found a stranger inside the apartment upon his return in the night and having engaged in a fight with him who then ran away, then found his grandmother dead in her bed. The 17-year-old’s story immediately appeared contradictory and hence his summons to the police station; first, however, he had been taken to hospital for treatment wounds he had on his face. Subsequently he was taken to the police station to be interviewed, then he was arrested.
