Next Thursday, June 27, the commercial activities of Crotone will close from 12 pm to express their solidarity with the employees of Abramo CC who since yesterday have occupied the council chamber where they are gathered in a permanent assembly to keep attention on an employment dispute which puts 1,000 jobs at risk in Calabria, over half of which in Crotone.
This morning the permanent assembly of Abramo CC employees was attended by the president of Confcommercio Crotone Antonio Casillo, also representing all the other trade associations, and Cristina Perri president of the women’s tertiary association of Crotone. “The associations – we read in a note from the employees – have expressed maximum solidarity for our affair and have confirmed their availability and closeness to every action that will be implemented”.
It has been agreed to organize a demonstration of employees in the Municipality square on Thursday 27 June with the temporary closure of commercial activities from 12pm.
The possible closure of Abramo Cc and the dismissal of 600 people, in fact, would have a very serious negative impact on the local economy. “We expect and hope for the presence of all the institutions of our territory, the Mayor, Councillors, Councillors, President of the Province, the Calabrian parliamentarians and above all we invite all citizens to participate” write the workers who from 30 June risk dismissal if Tim does not extends the contract thanks to which the company continues to survive despite being in extraordinary administration. The Abramo employees also asked for “the participation of the governor of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, who has become the promoter and spokesperson of our protest and who is supporting us in this difficult dispute”.
