The regional offices of the Italian Red Cross have been renewed

The board of directors of the Sicilian Regional Committee of the Red Cross has been established. The oath took place last weekend in Solferino, where Henry Dunant developed the idea that would later take shape in the creation of the Red Cross. The moment was particularly touching and auspicious, as June this year marks the 160th anniversary of the foundation. In the presence of the Cri national president, Rosario Maria Gianluca Valastro, the volunteer Stefano Principato, former president of the Catania committee, was sworn in as the new president for Sicily, elected just a few days ago. Joining him will be councilors Egidio Tuccio, Francesco Messina, Giusy Quartararo and Cristian Desimone.

“I am honored to be able to lead the Red Cross in Sicily for the next four years. We will work – declares Stefano Principato – by setting up a proximity committee, that is, a structure close to the presidents of the Territorial Units, close to the volunteers and, above all, close to the Sicilian population. In the next few days we will formalize the delegations and establish the relevant regional staff, thus opening up, as our founder Henry Dunant teaches us, to the best excellences in the field. We enhance the professionalism among the volunteers in Sicily. We already have a tight work schedule and many objectives to be achieved. Our desire is to generate social value, through the activities of the Red Cross we contribute to the Common Good. For us it is therefore a priority to harmonize the CriI realities of Sicily, and not leave anyone behind chosen for the Sicily regional committee: listen, share, act”.
