PESARO – Mayor Biancani’s words regarding drug dealing in Miralfiore Park do not go down well with the center-right of Pesaro. The mayor spoke of integration as an antidote, because the pushers are Nigerians, Senegalese, Ghanaians, without jobs and opportunities.

But this recipe is not good for Marco Lanzi from Pesaro Turning point: «Whoever sells drugs sells death as demonstrated by the recent discovery of the lifeless body of a 44-year-old from Pesaro inside the Miralfiore Park. There is an unfortunately dramatic number that worries drug operators: twelve. More and more young people from 12 to 25 years old, therefore from the adolescent age group to the consolidation of development at a psychological and neurological level, are taking drugs. Who sells death and destroys life of our young people before being integrated into the world of work with the support of the Municipality’s social services and therefore with the community’s money should first of all spend quite a bit of time in prison.”

Lanzi’s response is dry: «This is the real problem: open-air drug dealing continues to thrive because regulations make it almost impossible to stop it. Unfortunately, thanks to the commendable activity of the Police Forces, although heavily penalized by staff shortages, the multiple arrests of drug dealers do not lead to any results as often the release from prison is almost immediate due to the current regulations and the drug dealing activity starts again prosperously. Let us remember how the Court of Cassation has recently established the quantities of drugs that are considered “modest quantities for personal use”: 150 gr. for cocaine; 107.71 gr. for heroin; 246 gr. for marijuana; 386.93 gr. for hashish. Street dealers know this well and to avoid arrest they systematically hold quantities well below these limits. How can a Mayor think and declare that the solution to drug dealing can be solved by finding a job for those who deal to the point of requesting a meeting with the Prefect which he intends to attend together with his Councilor for Social Services? Will the next proposal be to also find the pushers a house to rent at the expense of the Municipality? A pusher on average earns from 2500 euros per month upwards. What job does Biancani intend to offer them to integrate them and bring them on the right path? Security must be addressed with serious and concrete proposals, certainly not with banal statements and unjustified tolerance and benevolence towards individuals with marked criminal aptitudes who, almost always, are part of ruthless and unscrupulous criminal associations”.
