a series of conferences for over 60s begins – Savonanews.it

The Savona University Campus launches the “NOVA-Campus: Let’s Challenge Aging” project, an initiative aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for the community.

The plan, created with the contribution of the De Mari Foundation, aims to improve people’s well-being and quality of life through both theoretical and practical activities aimed at various aspects of health, such as physical activity, nutrition and psychological aspects . The project also aims to synergize the activities of the local authorities and sees as other partners Auser Savona, which deals with the organizational secretariat and the promotion of the project itself towards the elderly population, ASL2, the municipality of Savona, the Institute Ferraris-Pancaldo and Digital Liguria.

The “NOVA-Campus” project includes a series of conferences open to all and subsequently a practical intervention aimed at 50 people over 60 which includes an adapted physical exercise program, practical workshops on sleep, nutrition and psychological aspects. Each participant will undergo a test session before and after the intervention, and each will also be provided with a wearable device to automatically collect movement and sleep data. The project takes place at the Savona Campus and will begin with a cycle of 4 conferences dedicated to physical activity, sleep, nutrition and psychological aspects.

“Our goal is to offer concrete opportunities to raise awareness of active and healthy aging”, declared Professor Marco Testa, Scientific Director of the project. “We also want to create new opportunities for community aggregation where people can meet to practice physical activity together and feel valued.”

The expected benefits of the project include improved physical and mental health, greater social integration and good practices to be applied in everyday life to improve well-being. The project will be monitored and evaluated by the multidisciplinary research team of REHElab, the rehabilitation and engineering laboratory directed by Professor Marco Testa at the Savona Campus of the University of Genoa, to ensure the effectiveness and impact of the proposed activities.

The Savona Campus is committed to improving people’s quality of life through innovative and sustainable projects.
