The Guardia di Finanza of the provincial command of Treviso he identified 91 air carriers than for 2023 they have not paid the state tax that you have to pay for air taxi flights, causing a damage to the Treasury of 137,500 euros. The discovery was made during customs and anti-fraud surveillance activities in“Antonio Canova” airport in Treviso.
Treviso, 395 air taxis did not pay
The investigations concern a niche of air transport, i.e non-scheduled flightscarried out with rental company aircraftwhich have a few dozen seats to travel more comfortably and save time.
There are 395 air taxi flights that passed through Treviso airport for which the tax was not paid. 1310 passengers traveled on these. The expected tax is equal to 100 euros for routes shorter than 1,500 km and equal to 200 euros for longer journeys. This must be paid for each route with departure and/or arrival on the national territory by each individual passenger to the carrier, who must then remit it to the State.
They are all foreign operators based in Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, United States of America, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary.
Treviso, fine for tax evaders
The phantom passengers were identified by the Treviso Financial Police who, after acquiring the declarations of the carriers used for the air taxi flights, cross-referenced the data with the payments in the State Accounting Office. Thus, the airlines that did not pay the tax were discovered, in order to offer better prices to their customers. In addition to the unpaid tax, they will now also have to pay sanctions equal to 30% of the sums evaded.
The investigation follows another similar one which concluded between 2022 and 2023, in which also in that case flights were found that evaded the tax in the period 2017-2022, causing a loss of 267,340 euros to state coffers. This is also Treviso airport and in total there were 2,446 passengers on 718 air taxi flights.
