The presentation of the new council led by Riccardo Righi today takes up a good part of the coverage of Carino and Gazzetta, both of which dedicate their opening pages to it. Beyond the illustration of the CVs and delegations of the individual councilors (see here), the two newspapers place emphasis on the words of the Mayor, in particular on the importance given to participation and the desire to establish a direct relationship with the community: one of the reasons why he preferred to leave the delegation of Urban Planning to his fellow architect Alessandro Di Loreto, reserving instead the participation and communication, in addition to the development of the University of which he has been from the beginning, precisely as Councilor for Urban Planning, one of the staunchest supporters. follows
There is a crime, reported today by the Gazzetta, which occurred in Correggio, but with the victim a boy from Carpi. Upon leaving a room near the municipal swimming pool, according to the victim’s reconstruction reported by the newspaper, the young man with a friend, waited in the car by the former’s mother, asked a harmless question to two girls they met by chance. Threats immediately began from these towards them and, when it seemed that the matter was over, five hooded young men targeted one of the two, surrounding him and pushing him. Other young people then arrived – according to the story, Italians and Maghrebians – many with balaclavas, scarves and bandanas who kicked and punched the boy, joined by his mother who could only observe how her son had been rescued by a group of Pakistanis who they made it safe. The episode is yet to be clarified in detail and the Correggio Carabinieri are investigating. What is certain is that the victim was taken to the Ramazzini emergency room with a swollen face.
At the bottom of the page the Gazzetta reports on the strike called for today by the Si Cobas union at the Opas of Migliarina. There are complaints of serious irregularities in wages and safety for employees who mostly work on contracts. Higher wages, therefore, given that the current ones would be below the poverty line, and a confrontation with the company, accused of anti-union behavior for its work of dissuading those who intend to join the union.
