A civil protection exercise will begin today, June 25th, in the Campi Flegrei area followed by a real evacuation test which will take place tomorrow, 26 June, between the municipalities of Pozzuoli, Bacoli and the neighborhoods of the city of Naples falling within the bradyseism area.
Campi Flegrei, evacuation tests begin between Pozzuoli and Naples
The exercise scheduled for today – organized by the Department of Civil Protection, in agreement with the Campania Region, with the involvement of the Metropolitan City and the Prefecture-UGT of Naples, the municipalities involved, the ASL Napoli 1 and the operational structures of civil protection – has the objective of verify the operating procedures defined by the emergency dispatch plan for the bradyseismic area.
In particular, the municipalities of Pozzuoli and Bacoli will be involved as well as the Neapolitan neighborhoods involved, allowing the functionality of some of the waiting areas and the related organization and supervision envisaged in the municipal planning to be tested and verified, with testing of the procedures for the evacuation of a part of the resident population.
Specifically, the registration procedures and assignment of accommodation to those who would hypothetically be unable to return to their homes, as well as the system for registering immediate needs for vulnerable people.
We leave in the afternoon with one communication of the start of the swarm by the Vesuvian Observatory of the Ingv and the activation of civil protection operational functions at the SORU (Unified Regional Operations Room) at the Naples Management Centre. On the morning of June 26th, from 10 am, we will proceed to evacuation simulations between Pozzuoli, Bacoli and Naples with the participation of citizens who, through the platforms of local administrations, took part in the exercise.
Below are the waiting areas designated for testing:
- TO Pozzuoli the waiting areas will be set up in via Napoli and Largo del Ricordi; a shuttle will take people to Palatrincone for the census simulation;
- TO Bacoli the waiting areas have been identified in via Del Mercato (via Miseno) and in piazza Rossini al Fusaro; citizens will be accompanied to the hub set up in the gym of the Antonio Gramsci middle school;
- TO Naples the citizens participating in the exercise will be taken from the waiting areas via Liberazione/via Sibilla to the hub set up at the municipality in via Acate in Bagnoli.
L’ASL Naples 1 Center will set up First Aid Points and health reception points both in the waiting area and in the reception area. Furthermore, on the morning of the 26th, the health workers of the RSA Posillipo (so-called Colonia Geremicca) will also take part in the tests.
Other activities include the setting up of a base camp for the mobile columns of the National Fire Brigade and activities to secure archaeological and cultural assets, in particular at Castello di Baia. There are several information points aimed at the population and volunteer interventions to support coordination centers, telecommunications, information and assistance to the population. The convening of the Civil Protection Operational Committee in Rome was also arranged, as well as the activation of the rooms and coordination centers at the various levels.
